A Night with Russell Latapy: Back in Falkirk

Few many footballers make such a mark on a club that they have a day specially designated to them, but Russell Latapy has achieved exactly that.

Brought to the club in 2003 by then-manager John "Yogi" Hughes, Russell had already had a stellar career, winning back-to-back league titles and Champions League football with Bobby Robson's FC Porto, the Portuguese Cup with Boavista, become a cult hero with Hibernian and enjoyed spells with Rangers and Dundee United.

At face value he was entering the twilight of his career, but on joining the Bairns he enjoyed an Indian summer, playing football with a style that saw him earn the First Division player of the year in 2005 as Falkirk stormed back into the top flight of Scottish football. He continued to impress in the Premier Division, earning  player of the month accolades and helping cement the Club's place in the top division.

With thanks to our friends at Falkirk Daft Podcast, Russell will be returning to Scotland in June 2023 and will be meeting the fans at Dobbie Hall, Larbert on Thursday 22 June, for an evening that no Falkirk fan will want to miss!
